EUGENE, Ore. -- University of Oregon end Nick Reed been named the national defensive player of the week honors by the Walter Camp Football Foundation, the organization announced Sunday. Reed, a junior lineman from Trabuco Canyon, Calif., led the Ducks' defensive resurgence in Saturday's 53-7 Homecoming victory over Washington State, recording career highs of 3.5 sacks. 11 total tackles (6 solo) and 5.0 tackles for loss. The two-year starter ranks third nationally in sacks per game (1.25) and fourth in tackles for loss per contest (2.17). The No. 7 Ducks (5-1, 2-1 Pac-10) travel to Seattle on Saturday, Oct. 20, to face Washington (2-4, 0-3). Kickoff is set for 4:30 p.m. with a live telecast on FSN. About the Award: It is the fourth consecutive year that the Walter Camp Football Foundation will honor one offensive and one defensive player as its national Bowl Subdivision Player of the Week.
