Dennis Dixon and the Ducks go down
Wendall Cason is sure proud of his son. Antoine Cason returned an interception for a touchdown and returned a punt for a score as Arizona upset No. 2 Oregon 34-24. The elder Cason played for the Ducks from 1981-84 and wanted the younger Cason to be a Duck, but Oregon didn’t recruit Antoine. That decision might have cost the Ducks a national championship. Also having Dennis Dixon go down with a knee injury in the second quarter didn’t help matters as the Oregon offense sputtered for three quarters. The Duck defense was shell-shocked in the first half as Oregon was down 31-14 at halftime, but Oregon played stingy defense in the second half. Arizona did come up with some offense in the fourth quarter when it counted as it hit a 46-yard field goal with 4:00 left to make it a two-score game. The status of Dixon is not known at this time.
